PROGRAM STRUCTURE

Postgraduate Studies Program "Atmospheric Sciences and Environment"

The curriculum of the MSc Program is structured with the aim of producing graduates with a high level of knowledge in the fields of Atmospheric Sciences and Environmental Sciences, as well as computational skills (statistics and programming) and problem-solving abilities. It aims to ensure the acquisition of the necessary knowledge and skills, a smooth learning process, and a rational distribution of workload.

The Program consists of two semesters with compulsory courses, which provide the core knowledge in Meteorology, Climatology, Atmospheric Physics, Environmental Physics, and Atmospheric Dynamics, forming the backbone of the curriculum. During these two semesters, students attend six (6) core courses and four (4) elective courses selected from a pool of eight courses, aimed at developing specialized knowledge and applications. Finally, the third semester of study is devoted to the preparation of the research-based Master’s thesis.

The learning outcomes for each course have been designed to align with the objectives of the MSc Program and are described in detail in the course syllabi (see Studies). The course syllabi also specify the methods used to assess learning outcomes, which include written and oral examinations, weekly assignments, short projects/activities, and, finally, a public presentation of the Master’s thesis.

The workload per course is in accordance with European standards (ECTS). The total workload is 30 ECTS per semester, with a total of 60 ECTS allocated to coursework (five courses per semester) and 30 ECTS allocated to the Master’s thesis.

In designing the MSc Program curriculum, students’ feedback is taken into account through course evaluations conducted via targeted questions in an electronic questionnaire, which is completed anonymously by postgraduate students and concerns the workload of the courses and the allocation of ECTS credits.
